VeriSign With VeriSign’s Digital ID, you can securely
transmit highly confidential information by email. VeriSign’s encoding system
is used by banks and other financial entities, as well as governments for
online transactions. To enroll with VeriSign for use with Outlook Express
or Windows Mail, you must use Internet Explorer during your
enrollment :

Test drive VeriSign’s Digital ID for your email
application, for free; It is as simple as A B C:
NOTE: While
you fill out your application, do NOT
check the box titled “Check this Box to Protect Your Private Key”,
unless you absolutely need strong private key protection. If you
select this option, a window will pop up each time you send an email that
uses your VeriSign key. That window displays the following notice: “An
application is requesting access to a protected item”. Your IT manager
can disable this security parameter.
NOTE: Installation of VeriSign’s Digital ID in
Outlook Express (or Windows Mail – same procedure): Outlook Express > Tools > Accounts >
(select the account that you are using) > Properties > Security (tab)
> Signing Certificate >
Select > (Click on the VeriSign certificate, click on OK); Repeat the same procedure for Encrypting Preferences > Select > (Click on the
VeriSign certificate, click on OK); close all dialog windows. Suggestion: Have a copy of this web page
at hand at all times while you fill out your online application to test drive
VeriSign’s Digital ID. Sending secured email is simple: Just
write an email and click the security icon to sign and encrypt it. If the
recipient's Digital ID is already in your address book, just hit
"Send". If not, it's simple to search the directory for your
recipient's name, then save his/her Digital ID to your address book. To do
